When it rains.....

It POURS.

We have the worst luck. I am a stress ball lately, just waiting for someone to come by and squeeze the crap out of me.

Since we bought our house, a number of things have gone wrong. Water Softner, Water Heater, Roof (which I admit we did know about prior to signing), Air Conditioner, numerous leaks & plumbing issues... and the list goes on... We bought new appliances last year to replace the horrible ones that were left behind when we moved in. Of course, the warranty ended in September, which would make it about time for the range/oven to suddenly decide to no longer turn on and heat. Turns out there was some faulty wiring in the back which burned out. AND.. it takes 3-4 days to order a new part.

everytime we seem to be finally getting somewhere, something else falls apart. In the past few months we have had both our vehicles undergo major issues and after fixing them, they both start up with problems again. This time, they estimate our explorer will cost over 1300 to fix. Are you kidding me? Our van has a minor problem.. it just won't blow out air on settings 3 or 5. Nice..

Not to mention I am soon to be a M.S. college graduate entering the workforce and the most inopportune time. The economy is crap. Word has it the state is going to put a hiring freeze on all jobs (MSU included, which was a hopefully employer). AND.. my loans begin collecting in June. I guess I am just SOL... It just stresses me out to no end.. because we live in Mankato, own a house here.. so we cannot just pick up and move to where the jobs are (if they are anywhere)..I know, I know.. everyone is going through the ringer on this one.. but still.. it does merit a little complaining, right?

So, yeah.. I am contemplating returning to school in the fall for Masters #2. The U of M offers a MPH online program. But if I choose a program at MSU, I can more than likely keep my GA in the Women's Center.

We've gotta be hitting the top of the hill soon, right?? I mean this uphill climb cannot continue forever... or can it?

Full Frontal Feminism

Lauren, Jessica Valenti, Chera

Last week Monday my department brought Jessica Valenti, author of Full Frontal Feminism, He's a Stud, She's a Slut and 49 other double standards every woman should know about, and upcoming Purity Myth as well as the founder of feministing.com
Let me first say, she is AMAZING! She is really inspiring and I admire her work. She does such amazing work and really paves the way for young feminists everywhere!

Rubber Ducky, you're the one.. you make bath time SO much fun!

From day one, Makaylah as been our bathing beauty. She has always adored bath time. She knows when it's bath time and if she is not in a tub when she wants to be, watch out!

She quickly out grown her infant tub, and the tub seat just isn't as much fun as laying on her foam pad in the water where she can kick and splash in the bubbles. She is getting so big so fast.. it's so amazing how fast babies grow and change her at age.

She is also FINALLY making it through the night sleeping from about 8pm until I wake her up to eat before I go to bed (around 12), then she makes it again until 8 or 9AM. SO much better than 12, 4:30 and 8AM feedings! I thank her new sleeping schedule to oatmeal + fruit and veggies! She LOVES sweet potatoes and bananas :-)

It's Snowing!

Makaylah & Treyson all ready to weather the cold and snow!

One good looking boy who remembered winter means "sledding!"

Today we had a considerable snow fall.. that all melted right away, but it was pretty waking up to!

Treyson woke up, saw the snow outside and said, "It's SNOWING!!!" He eagerly looked out the front window and then ran to the patio doors to ensure the snow was in the backyard too... then he went into Makaylah's room to see if the snow was out her window. Makaylah, happily woke up to the commotion of her brother, who by this time had crawling up on her crib to tell her about snow.

"Hi baby sister!!! Makaylah, it's snowing outside, can you see it? It's really snowing outside. We can go outside and play in the snow, snow is cold and we can go sledding...etc..."

Punky the Blowfish

Makaylah, or Punky as she is known in our house, has transformed into a blowfish. She has decided its super cool to blow and spit all day.. after she eats, when she's happy, when she has a mouth full of oatmeal.. you name it......

Baby Einstein Contest

Treyson decided he was going to have a contest- this is too darn cute!

Trick or Treat!

Trick or Treating Fun!

This year Treyson was my little Elephant and Makaylah was my little Kitten. And what a FAT kitten she was! It was so fun taking them trick or treating. Grandma Leen came up to go with us and we went with Valerie (daycare) and her crew in their neighborhood. Treyson was so funny trick or treating, he could have gone all night if he wasn't so tired already! He had a fun day at daycare with a Halloween Party.
He was a lot of fun and is already ready for next year!
